Recycling experts with your sustainability goals in mind

ACTenviro is expert in developing creative, sustainability programs, and finding environmentally-sound outlets for recycling spent materials.

Here are a few examples of how by-products can be recycled:

  • Spent materials from the semiconductor industry make perfect raw ingredients for the painting industry.
  • Items with high energy content can be directed to cement kilns for use as a supplemental fuel source in their production processes.
  • Similarly, high-energy non-hazardous materials can be converted into energy at waste-to-energy plants.

Our recycling experts can uncover synergies between generators of waste materials and consumers who turn these materials into new products. We provide comprehensive recycling options for:

  • Solvents
  • High-BTU solids and liquids
  • Aqueous solutions
  • Batteries
  • Universal waste (fluorescent tubes, mercury, etc.)
  • Electronic waste (“e-waste”)
  • Light ballasts
  • “Exit” signs
  • Precious metal-bearing waste
  • Used oil and oily water
  • Cardboard, paper, plastics, etc.
  • Medical waste
  • PPE waste

Our programs include:

PLASTIC RECYCLING – REUSABLE ENERGY

Our CLOSED-LOOP recycling programs for plastics and PPE are designed to empower the future with clean energy.

5,000 tons Plastic = 1,052 gallons of fuel

WASTE-TO-ENERGY

ACTenviro’s – Waste-to-Energy takes non-hazardous waste – otherwise destined for landfill – and combusts it, generating steam for electricity production. Ash is processed to recover metal for recycling while all gases are collected, filtered and cleaned to minimize environmental impact.

Waste-to-Energy

  • On average, 1 ton of waste = 500-650 kWh of power and ~50 lbs. of recycled metal
  • Cleaner source of energy
  • Fewer fossil fuels burned: 1 ton of waste = ¼ ton of coal
  • Methane from landfills: 20+ times more potent than CO2 as a greenhouse gas

Medical

ACTenviro’s Microwave Disinfection System – the first of its kind in California to offer a waste-to-energy Red to Green option – will enable you to go green by safely disposing of your medical waste in a way that is both economical and environmentally-friendly.

PAINTCARE – REDUCE, REUSE & RECYCLE

PaintCare makes it easy to recycle leftover paint. In states with paint stewardship laws, we operate recycling programs on behalf of paint manufacturers.

ACTenviro is proud to partner with PaintCare Inc., a non-profit organization representing paint manufacturers/producers to plan and operate paint stewardship programs in U.S. and jurisdictions that pass paint stewardship laws.

In states where PaintCare operates, we encourage households and businesses to take their unwanted, leftover paint to a PaintCare drop-off site.

To be accepted for drop-off, PaintCare products must be in their original containers of no larger than 5 gallons in size, must have the original manufacturer’s printed label on the container, and must be covered with a secured lid. We cannot accept open or leaking cans. Please review the detailed list below of PaintCare products and non-PaintCare products: PaintCare Products vs. Non-PaintCare Products

We accept PaintCare qualifying containers at the following ACTenviro branches:

  1. Escondido, CA
  2. Redlands, CA
  3. San Jose, CA
  4. Dixon, CA
  5. Merced, CA
  6. Denver, CO
  7. Tacoma, WA
  8. Clackamas, OR

A Recycling Story: ACTenviro and Bachem

ACTenviro was proud to be honored with another IEA (Industrial Environmental Association) “Environmental Excellence Award” at their annual conference in San Diego this year (2023). This award was presented to ACTenviro and Bachem for their collaborative effort in developing a carbon recycling program for Bachem, saving them 360K per year and, more importantly, eliminating 50 tons of carbon per year from going to landfill.
