Fluorescent Lamps And Tubes

A fluorescent lamp or tube is a common type of low-pressure mercury-vapor gas-discharge lamp used in homes, businesses, and other facilities. An electric current elevates the atoms of the mercury vapor gas to an excited state, which produces short-wave ultraviolet light waves. The UV rays cause the phosphor coating in the lamp’s glass to glow, producing visible light.
