She is based out of our Escondido location but also supervises the Santa Fe Springs (LA) TSSs as well. Where are you from/where do you live?

I was born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina. I was a Navy brat, though, so we moved around a lot. I’ve lived in Scotland, Tennessee, Mississippi, and Hawaii. I came out to Poway, CA in 2000 and have been here ever since.

Why did you join ACTenviro?

It was the most relaxing interview in my life, and I came away feeling very connected with the panel. I had been unemployed and needed to get back into it. A former coworker had said there was a position I should go for.

What’s the best thing about working at ACTenviro?

My coworkers. They are truly the most dedicated, determined, and motivated people I’ve ever worked with. We honestly care about each other. Especially in hard times, you really see people’s true colors, and everyone came together and were very supportive. Even going out of their lanes to say, ‘what can I do to help?’ I’ve never seen that at any other company I’ve worked for.

What do you like best about your day-to-day job?

Helping others, whether it be coworkers or clients. My satisfaction comes from crossing things off my to-do list! I enjoy being asked a question and providing an answer or getting the info or whatever it is the individual needs—saying, ‘that’s done, what’s next?’ and helping people accomplish what they need to accomplish. As a TSS Lead, I get to onboard and really interface with various new hires, whether they are TSSs or not. I can get to know these new hires and connect with them on a better level. I feel more connected when I train people.

What does “sustainability” mean to you?

Balancing current and future necessities for myself and others. Having the mindset that, yes, I can do this tomorrow, but today is yesterday’s tomorrow. When I think about sustainability it’s not just the environment, it’s also financial, community, etc.

What’s your favorite activity when you’re not working?

Remote camping. I love it! We can dry camp—we have a composting toilet, containers for water, so we can go off by ourselves or with friends away from everyone. Last year we went camping for 2 weeks and I came back the most relaxed I’ve ever been. I suggest it to everyone, at least a week.

What’s your favorite food?

YES. All! Except for raw tomatoes. Chocolate. Cadbury mini eggs. Ever since I was young, I’ve been able to sniff out chocolate like no one’s business.

If you could go on vacation anywhere in the world, where would you go?

Easter Island. It’s so trippy, what happened to these people? Why are these things here? And there are not many people there. It’s in the middle of nowhere.

What’s your passion?

My family and my faith. Both are my strength, values, and commitment.

Thank you for sharing more about you with us, Angel! We appreciate you being on our team!
